Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and technically skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to support the design, assembly, installation, testing, inspection and maintenance of mechanical components and systems associated with security doors, blinds and roller shutter products.
The position will work with technical drawings, mechanical components, tools and equipment to ensure products and mechanical assemblies are accurately manufactured, assembled, installed, tested and maintained in accordance with specifications, safety requirements and quality standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
√ Assist with the design, modification, and development of mechanical equipment, components, and assemblies used in security doors, blinds and roller shutter systems.
√ Select appropriate tools, machinery, measuring instruments, equipment, and materials required for mechanical assembly, installation, testing and maintenance.
√ Assemble and install new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine parts, operating mechanisms and controls.
√ Assemble, align, adjust and fit mechanical components including frames, tracks, rollers, shafts, brackets, guides, locking mechanisms and related components.
√ Assist field and workshop testing and inspections of mechanical assemblies and completed products to verify correct operation, alignment and functionality.
√ Organize and assist with the inspection, servicing and maintenance of machinery, tools, mechanical equipment and plant.
√ Identify mechanical faults, wear, misalignment and operational issues and carry out appropriate adjustments, repairs or component replacement.
√ Ensure designs, mechanical assemblies and finished work comply with technical specifications, applicable regulations, safety requirements and contractual provisions.
√ Follow workplace health and safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized and safe working environment.
√ Assist in preparation & interpretation of drawings, plans, sketches & designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers & Engineering Technologists.
Employment Requirements
√ Minimum 5 years of practical experience in mechanical assembly, fitting, machine operation, testing, and maintenance.
√ Strong knowledge of mechanical components, assembly procedures, tools, machinery and measuring equipment.
√ Strong mechanical troubleshooting, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
√ Ability to conduct inspections, testing and quality control of mechanical work.
√ Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements and quality standards.
√ Ability to work effectively with engineers, technical personnel, production staff and installation teams.
Qualification Requirements
⇒ Relevant mechanical engineering technical training or apprenticeship is desirable.
⇒ Cert IV in Engineering Drafting or A Diploma, Advanced Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Drafting will be an advantage.
⇒ Practical experience in mechanical fitting, assembly, machine operation, testing and maintenance will be highly regarded.
